The recapitulation is an ancient technique for retrieving and healing your energy. The purpose of recapitulation is to take back your personal power that was lost during unpleasant or traumatic events that happens in your life. It also teaches you how to prevent current energetic loss.
Those who pursue it shamanically consider the recapitulation to be a never-ending process. It is not a cure but rather a healing process. Shamanic recapitulation is the art of excavating through our past storyline chapters, locating the emotional imprints and releasing the chrages. All shamanic traditions have some form of a death and rebirth process. There are two essential elements present in the process; one could be used primarily for self-healing, the second was more complete and stepped a person off on to the path of the shamanic. Anyone can perform a recapitulations for their own healing. As your power is returned to you, you will find your life becoming more joyous and free- you will truly start walking the "Path with Heart". Recapitulation Exercise The first step is to start a notebook dedicated to listing all of the current beliefs that you hold about your life and your relationships with others. It is intended to direct one to remember and relive past events, to help us recover hidden memories and to help us discern what the significant events of our life really are. Healthy relationships with friends, family members and others are not something that you need to retrieve energy from or sever the ties with. We can resolve lists by dividing the notebook into sections for "Lovers", "Family Members", "Friends & Acquaintances", "Personal Beliefs", etc. You are not looking to recapitulate trivial details, we all have enough to do without worrying about small insignificant events. You are looking for events and experiences that hold a lot of unresolved energy. Recapitulation is not supposed to replace or substitute for our process of learning the lessons of life. Rather, it is meant to be used as a healing process, to correct the effects of injuries to our energetic body. Once you have an inventory item to work on, take the time to evaluate, reflect and choose carefully those items that merit recapitulation. Quiet your mind and relax, setting the intent to retrieve your energy trapped in your past. Bring up a specific memory or event. Get it pictured right in front of your face in as much as possible. Allow any emotions to arise naturally, without restraint or judgment. As much as possible, become the detached witness, observing the emotions and events without letting them overwhelm you. Turn you head to the left and exhale and slowly turn your head from left to right drawing in the energy of the scene in front of you with your breath. When your head is completely to the right again turn slowly back to the left exhaling the foreign energy that exists from the scene. Go on to the next event on your list and keep doing this until you have worked through it. Be aware of what you are doing, keep your mind focused and intend each step of the way. Feel the intention of taking the energy back. When you are finished the first time you may feel a little lightheaded, that's normal, it means something is changing. If the memories youre working with are especially painful or traumatic it may take a number of recaps to completely suck the energy back out of them. You will know it is working when you recall one of the memories and find that the emotions it was evoking in you has lessened, or even completely disappeared. A good practice is recapitulating everyday before you sleep. This allows you to take back any power lost in daily events, and frees you from connections with interpersonal drama. You will feel stronger and more complete and life as a mystery worth solving will begin to have appeal to you.
